Parenthood is one of the few jobs where you can get away with doing what even in your own eyes might be a shabby job and yet see pride in the eyes of the ’employer’.
I am delivering the Bean to her classroom and the Brat who starts school 15 minutes before her, catches a glimpse of me from the assembly hall.
His face lights up, a big grin breaks out and he yanks his teacher’s kurta and pointing to me with pride and joy he says, ‘Look, there’s MY mamma..’ Loud enough for a few others to stop what they were doing and look at this object of his pride and love.
I stop and wave to him. And I don’t know if I said it out loud, but it ran through my head for sure, ‘And LOOK! That is my terrific son!’
Did I say parenthood is one of the few jobs where you don’t have to do much to earn pride? Well then, babyhood is the other. I don’t think the Brat needs to do much – I just shine with pride each time I look at him.

Feel that thrill too each time my kiddos’eyes light up at the sight of me! I guess parenthood gets more challenging tho’…have to keep ‘working’ harder to earn those adoring looks through older childhood and teenage-hood(lums)!

and very true. i guess that is why i wrote this. to look back on a time when he was just proud of mamma for being.

oh i know! i get the same kick when O runs to me and holds on and looks around to make sure all her friends have seen me (or R when he is doing the dropping or picking)!! i know it may not last and soon she will be embarassed to have her parents around. but am gonna enjoy it as long as it lasts.
I love your kids! I want kids like your kids! Err, wait a min. Okay, one kid who can give me the love both your kids give you, combined 😛 Yes, I am greedy 🙂

nadi starts preschool next month- in 2 and half weeks to be exact. and my heart is in my mouth at the thought of sharing him with the world. tell me it gets better and school really IS for the best.
