Love is…

01082009 124

… a teetotaller accepting a dare and dancing on the bar counter of a pub to win her man a bottle of beer.

And what was said man’s reaction? “Do you think you can get up there and dance again? This bottle won’t last very long.”

By the wayΒ  – does anyone miss the old Turquoise Cottage? The new one no doubt is quite close – but not quite the same…

  1. I can never do that before I have few down my throat. πŸ˜›

Me: If I waited for a few down my throat I’d be waiting a lifetime πŸ˜‰ Besides as I often tell people – I am like THIS when I am sober – do you really want me to start drinking?!

  2. IS that you? It looks like you πŸ™‚

Me: yeah yeah. you might recognise the sweater. i used to wear it very often

  3. I am going to assume this was before kids. And if it wasnt, then I do not want to talk to you!

And did you win him the 2nd bottle

Me: yes baba. pre-kids. havent been that size since! And no i didnt win him a second bottle. was looking around for a bottle to thwack him on the head with

  4. Love this. Ha..ha..ha.. Totally pre-kids era.

This reminds me of our dare where I had to dance in the middle of a crowded road in San Francisco, screech ‘I love you’ and Kiss him. I won. πŸ˜‰

  5. Nach mere bulbul ki bottle milega.

I can’t believe you did this just for love – am sure you’re crazy enough to do it for yourself.

Me: πŸ˜‰ and poppy hit the nail on the head.

  6. LOL.
Oh I know you are crazy MM. Now go show this to your kids and raise the bar (for craziness quotient) for yourself. Way to go, you can do this even now. Innit? πŸ˜‰

  7. Hey was surprised to see from the comments that this is “you”… Though I dont know you I have read most of your blogs and loved them. Love the girl who is maybe entering her early thirties, who is not afraid to have her says and goes about it with panache !

    Cheers
    R

  8. Ok who wants to bet that MM’s hubby dear got more than a beer? Ok he “told” you it’s just a beer but if I were him ,I would have put more than a mere beer in the “pot” to have my lady love gyrating on the bar counter πŸ˜›

    Me : πŸ™‚ he’s cheap that way

You are a teetotaler? How did OA woo you? Not even wine ? πŸ™‚

Me: I’m easy that way. we make a good couple πŸ˜‰

  9. That takes some guts….Yes I do miss it and quite badly at that too…The new one doesn’t match up at all. And the one in good old gur gaon sucks….

  10. Whoaaaaaaaaa πŸ™‚ . Likes it.
Jab tak hai “Jaam”, jaane-jahhaan main naachoongi ? πŸ˜€

I hope my love never tries that or else she would have to do that all night long πŸ˜›

And the old TC was so so so much fun. Still regular at the new one but its not the same 😦

  11. sweet πŸ™‚ and respect!! am the resident bar counter dancer in my town but i usually need like 3 martinis to loosen up! come to cologne. we’ll go paint the town scarlet!!. our boys can guzzle kΓΆlsch ( Cologne’s local brew) as much as they want!!

  12. when such an interesting scene is being played…why ppl look in other directions…was it common in bar …?

  13. cool! but whn all others r busy w/ their drinks or something else and nt staring the heck @ yr ‘antics’ u’re somuch @ ease, as in yr pix!:-)

  14. *deep bows* gutsy woman. since i can’t dance even to save my own life, leave alone the boy’s bacon – what can i say – ‘respects’ maam!!!

BTW – i found it weird too that NO ONE in the vicinity was looking your way. bar-top dancing very common issit?

Me: or maybe i am a terribly bad dancer ? :p naah – i think i’d been up there 3-4 minutes and people had run out of interest when they realised I was not going to strip up there or something more exciting!

  15. me done it too…but no to win my man daaru ka bottle but cuz thr were 40 girls out and we were all high and they were playing Girls Just wanna have fun…so we got up up on the bar top (Coyote Ugly ishtyle)and danced and the barguy just asked us to remove our heels so tht we wouldn’t scratch his bartop so we all kicked off our sandals and danced….Oh for those days again

  16. Love is when a vegeterian almost ate a piece of Chicken and cook a complete meal with Chicken curry and chicken tangdi masala…for the man she is in love with so that the said man can drink his daary accompanied by the tangdi masala as a starter:)

and that is a lovely photo of urs πŸ™‚ thought not clear, i can see the smile and the exp on your face πŸ™‚

  17. MM – on a compltely unrelated note – what would you recommend to an indian woman with brown skin and hazel eyes if she is looking for the perfect shade of red lipstick? I habve tried many shades and they end up looking ‘pink’ on my lips!! Am looking for a nice classy shade of red that i can wear with evening wear.

    Thanks!!

Me: Well I have begun to wear a lot of red, and the one I use is one I accidentally found in Aviance (the Unilever personal selling brand) – its one of the best brands for all sorts of make up I’ve found.

  18. okay this is going to give away my age.
    but.
    anything for you.

i have danced without a care in the world. on a chair. at the ghungroo discotheque at the maurya sheraton.
post a “sangeet” function – hence i was in a salwar kurta and wobbly stilettos – a classy, dressy one but still…and oh yes..i was some 30 kilos lighter !
do not remember a bar counter – so the chair was the next best ! was roundly complimented for my dancing. and i didn’t get no beer post that. that is all just in my mind’s album now…

wouldn’t dare do it now !
    πŸ˜›

me: oh come on. we’ve all danced at ghungroos. well i have πŸ˜€ so its okay! I can totally see you doing something of that sort

  19. all throughout i was wondering howcome you’ve never done this sort of thing. now i am assured its the same MM i thought i knew.

five years down the line OA should return the favour with interest compounded annually (when is the party? lets have someinthing interesting)

  20. What spirit..and there are so many facects to you Mad Momma!! Loved the pic and OA reply is, borrowing from Barney..’legendary’ πŸ™‚

  21. LOL. Love the way you two love each other and express it – my hubby is not ready even to hold hands while on a walk… no public display I believe – hmph!
p.s. I stopped the submission to correct a typo – pls delete the first one if two of these comments reach you :P!

  22. What is this about ‘pre kids’ or ‘post kids’ does happiness and expressing one’s love and dancing depend on your age or whether you have produced kids!! You rock MM and there is nothing to stop you from having a blast even now!! This time it can be for your kids not for a beer for your man….

Me: LOL! no yaar -only specifying pre-kids because i was so thin then!

And in your opinion....
