Leafy ‘mat’ters

Okay so that’s a shittyΒ title but you won’t mind when you see what it’s about. The Brat and Bean made some pretty leaf imprints on chart paper at summer school – yes, I put them into the same class at summer camp!

So I got them laminated and am using them as table mats when it’s just the OA and me for dinner. Nice?!

Have you heard this version of Moondance? Makes me want to get up and dance!

  1. With the change in header, I knew a garden related post was coming up πŸ™‚

    Very resourceful and totally charming!

  2. Btw, I even like that picture of a flower on the right. You can cut out the flower, paste it on a coloured paper, decorate it a little, frame it and hang it on the wall. I think it’ll look cute! πŸ™‚

  3. That is beautiful!
    thats a peepal leaf na?

using them as table mats is pretty creative πŸ™‚

yep!this version of moondance is good πŸ™‚
    had not heard it before..

  4. Awwwwww Those place mats are so adorable. Great idea to use them as table mats. I am sure Brat and Bean would be proud of there art being used in a creative way.

Oh, By the way OA has been spelt as OS. πŸ™‚

  5. Nice. You are such a good mom. I display their crap errr art for a week or two . And then quietly in the middle of the night, threw it away. When they ask me where is it, I shrug my shoulders and pretend not to know what they are talking abt.All of them are going to be in therapy..I know it

  6. Cute…

of course, when it’s just us adults eating, we sack out on the couch πŸ˜€ You’re too cultured lady! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  7. Hi Mad momma,
Just stumbled upon your blog and read a few entries and totally loved it πŸ™‚ I have 2 small kids too so can totally relate…..and the table mats are lovely.

  8. I am so glad that there is another soul like me. I have done the same with my little one’s school projects. There are just too many so have chosen couple of them and everytime we use it she feels proud and this encouraged her to run and set the table. πŸ™‚

  9. That’s a wonderful idea. Even my kids have joined a summer camp. May I pass on this idea to my wife as my own ??

  10. MM, those table mats are beautiful. Brat and Bean must be soo proud. πŸ™‚

I had a request. I went back to your earlier blog and saw that it is now password protected. Is there any way I can gain entry? πŸ˜‰ There were many posts I had on my favorite list.

  11. Very cute effort!

Beautiful header MM. How do you manage time to maintain such lovely plants?? I really need gardening 101 from you!

  12. I have 3 years worth of art work..dont know what to do with it and don’t have the heart to throw it away. More will come once the second one starts school..these table mats are a great idea. Lucky kids!! have a very creative mother πŸ™‚

  13. If ever anyone says the kids have taken their father, show this … they are as good as the OA and are equally good at being creative like their Mad Mad Mother…

  14. pl help shed some light πŸ™‚

how did you get the sheets laminated? I once asked the local xerox/lamination guy to do it and he said it requires some specail machine, not the regular lamination..

Me: really? i get it done on the regular machine only. ..

  15. @19 Ammu: I too would like to gain an access to MM’s blog archives! It had so many of my fav reads…im getting withdrawal symptoms…!

    Pliss tell?

  16. okay, when i want to do up my home (which will happen if and when I move into a home and not the bachelorette pad style place I inhabit now!), can I steal all of your wonderful ideas?? pretty please?

  17. OMG,
Just got the same done for Mimi and Ta, though its more of their stuff from Pre school. I dont have the heart to throw it away. U can see evolution in each subsequent colouring/ drawing.
But some of them- painfully I have made a seperate ‘giveaway’ file but havent done it yet. Sitting on it since March!!

  18. So the picture of the OA is off because his face was so clear? πŸ˜‰
These ideas of yours…geez..makes me wallow in guilt. I am one step ahead of sraikh, the ‘art’ goes straight from the school bag to dining table to the recycle bin. Therapy it is for them 😦

  19. @richajn: It may depend on the size. If it’s a standard A4 or smaller, the usual machine will work. Otherwise, they may need a larger one.

  20. how do you generally clean the fancy delicate work fabric table mats? food stains are tough to avoid and also clean!

  21. and here is from (n+1)th
you are a creative lovely mom!! i am having this strange urge to have a peek a boo into ur home at this moment.. please do a post with pics sometime soon.. Thank you πŸ™‚

Me: Arrey.. thank you πŸ™‚ although I do loads. Just click on the tag that says home decor and you will see the ones on this blog. When I am less lazy I will export all the posts from the old blog.

  22. verra, verra nice!! i lurv that ice cream on the stick and the mango…sigh. waiting for BB to gimme school artwork too, i think i’m going to preserve them just like this πŸ™‚

    thanks for the idea!

  23. Dear MM,

The first thing that comes to my mind is that why would a lovely momma like you use her dear children’s art work as a table mat and eat on it….?

i may be wrong but i think i would have loved to frame it and put it up in my drawing room to show it to anyone and everyone who cares to know about me and my family….

Me: They make one each everyday! I’d go broke framing it and have no place to put it up. But the size on this was just right so it goes on the table. Most other parents just chuck them in the dustbin but that would just break my heart!

  24. I’ve got the brat’s favourite cartoon characters printed out into A4 size prints and laminated with his name spelt out clear. Gets him to sit in place at the table and eat.

And in your opinion....
